Nate Light
Urban Design Intern
Nate Light is an Urban Design Intern at H3 Studio while pursuing graduate degrees in architecture and urban design at Washington University in St. Louis. He committed to research-based design processes, and the role architects and urban designers play as thoughtful intermediaries — connecting communities to the ways in which they can reshape their built-environment.
Nate holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, with minors in urban design and environmental studies. During his time at WashU, he has worked with the Sam Fox School’s Office for Socially Engaged Practice, leading and supporting collaborative projects throughout St. Louis. His work has included: assisting with research used to communicate health and safety risks in north St. Louis following the May 2025 tornado; compiling case studies and transferable strategies for future development in the Grand Center Arts District; and promoting civic participation among classmates and peers.
At H3 Studio, Nate handles research and graphic production for all stages of projects, from fieldwork and mapping to producing public-facing communication materials. He brings a careful, detail-oriented approach to each assignment, combining analytical thinking with a strong visual sensibility. Through his contributions, Nate helps translate complex site conditions, community needs, and planning ideas into clear materials that support discussion, decision-making, and design development.
