Monsanto Campus Landscape Master Plan

This plan provides Monsanto Corporation with a Master Landscape Plan for their St. Louis campuses. The plan establishes a visual Identity/Brand worthy of the Monsanto Corporation at three local campuses: Creve Coeur, Chesterfield and Spirit Hangar. The plan guides preservation, enhancement, and care of the campus landscape and is rooted in sustainable design solutions with a focus on ease of maintenance. The plan, developed during a week-long charrette held on the Monsanto Campus, includes recommended improvements for all the major elements of outdoor space - circulation routes, parking lots, outdoor gathering areas, site furnishings, walls, and plants. This plan engages dramatic existing natural features to increase prairie stewardship, enhance pedestrian experience, create recreational opportunities, preserves vistas, reduce stormwater runoff and urban heat island effect, and together creates a world class green campus. Along with illustrated plans, the final plan includes a comprehensive five-year maintenance plan to ensure long-term sustainability throughout the campuses. The Plan has created a clear strategy for dramatic improvements that embody the values of Monsanto.

The physical environment of the campuses—and the landscapes, in particular—makes a powerful first and lasting impression and can play a key role in recruiting and retaining employees, as well as clients. The Landscape Master Plan efforts acknowledges the importance of the landscape in giving order, image and continuity to the campuses.
