Matthew Bernstine, AICP, LEED AP
Sr. Associate
Matthew, is an Urban Design and Planner with 15+ years of experience leading design projects across the country. He is passionate about working at the intersections of design justice, sustainability, and community planning processes that assist communities with reshaping their communities. He has extensive experience in spatial planning, comprehensive plans, facilitating design workshops, civic engagement strategies, and public realm design. At H3 Studio, Matthew led a multi-disciplinary global team of designers, engineers, biologists, and scientists, to a winning submission for the Van Alan competition, Changing Course: navigating the future of the Lower Mississippi River Delta, an international competition. As project manager, he led the design staff assembled the public documents, presentations, and technical reports.
Matthew also serves as the Director of the Office for Socially Engaged Practice at the Sam Fox School of WashU, where he directs, leads, and supports collaborative, socially engaged practices of art, architecture, and design.
